Julius Caesar Essay (Brutus)

Brutus had to fight the moral battle of killing Caesar along with the other characters. They all had different motivators but Brutus. Fought it with a strong love for Rome and its people and a high regard for honour and with this he honorably sleighed the mighty Caesar for the good of Rome.

Honour on of Brutus main values that he puts above everything. This motivates Brutus because he is a son of Rome that sees him self-high and like a hero. When Cassius was trying to convince Brutus to join the conspirators he said he would think about it and he said “ Brutus had rather be a villager than to repute himself a son of Rome under these hard conditions as this time is like to lay upon us. This quote means that he would rather be a poor villager than to say he is a roman and live in fear and oppression. This quote shows very well how honorable he is had how his honour leads him and motivates him. He uses his own name and this also shows his honour. He would rather be a poor man with honor than a noble roman with know honour and that clearly shows how honour motivates him. When brutus is telling the conspirators how to kill Caesar he said “ Lets carve him as a dish fit for the gods not hew him has a carcass fit for hounds” This quote means that he wants to kill him with honor and respect and not like shame full violent killers. This proves very well how honour motivates him because he it shows that he wants to kill him in a honorable also because this will make him seem honorable in the peoples eyes. In the end what lead to him killing Caesar was his patriotism.

Patriotism was what the honorable Brutus to kill Creaser. After he killed Caesar when he was trying to convince the people of Rome that what he did was honorable he said” Not that I loved Caesar less but that I loved Rome more. This quote means that he did not kill Caesar because he did not like him but that he loved Rome more. So he did it for Rome. This proves he is motivated by patriotism because it means love for your country and that is exactly what he said he was doing it for. The other quote that shows his patriotism was. When he was talking about how they should kill Caesar he said “ We shall be called purgers not murderers “ Quote means that they will be called saviors of Rome and not evil killers. This quote shows that he is driven my patriotism because he believes it is for the best of Rome and that is why he is doing it. So Brutus has a strong love for hi country and that is the only reason he killed Caesar.

Brutus fights the conflict of killing Caesar and what happened after that and the moral conflict of going to kill him. He fought the conflict with his honour that kept him keeping he was doing it with honor and his patriotism that kept him fighting for the good of Rome. The motivators caused him to behave honorably and he did not have any conflict with him self because he was doing it for the right reasons he thought. In the end he did not achieve his goal because that was for the better of Rome a freedom. But it caused more trouble and in the end he killed him self. So it did not justify the means because Brutus did not know he was begin cheated and Rome did not want him to kill Caesar. So it was not a worth goal and not for the reasons he thought he was doing it.
